Description

The Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS) of the Academy of Korean Studies has issued an international call for funding with the aim of contributing to the international dissemination of Korean Studies by translating pre-modern, modern and contemporary classical texts of academic value into English and disseminating them internationally. This is the first internationally funded project of the language scientific area of Ca' Foscari University, submitted with the support of Fondazione. The project, with the scientific supervision of Prof. Vincenza D'Urso, specifically concerns the translation of a Korean epistolary into English and related activities to support research, translation and dissemination of the text. The epistolary is developed in a 17th-century Korean noble family in the immediate aftermath of the Japanese invasions (1592-1598). 176 letters in late medieval Korean, with an introductory essay by Prof. D'Urso, original texts, transcription of original texts, notes, glossary, and a concluding essay on historical analysis of the vocabulary found in the epistles.
